This training is designed to introduce carers to important childhood trauma theory. Each session looks at a different important topic that will teach you about the brain, behaviour and development of the children you care for. These modules are designed to support you in beginning to adopt a trauma-informed approach. This programme is full of ideas, strategies and advice that you can take away and begin to implement straight away. With a therapeutic approach at its core, this is an essential course for anyone caring for vulnerable children and young people.

1. Childhood Trauma and the Brain (Adoption/ Fostering)

Learn about childhood trauma and how it impacts a developing brain. Find out what happens when children are stressed or overwhelmed. Learn about attachment disorder and how it impacts a child or young person.  Find out how to identify attachment disorder and how to support the children you work with by ensuring you are not triggering attachment style behaviours. Full of practical strategies and advice to help you figure out what is effective and what is not effective. You will have lots to take away and implement. 

3. Therapeutic Response Skills Module (Adoption/ Fostering)

Learn about how to develop therapeutic response skills with the children in your care. Find out how to adapt your responses to behavioural incidents and emotional outbursts to focus on connection and care.
